What the Workshop Looks Like

Our private sessions follow the same format as our popular public Matcha & Clay workshop - a fully guided, two-part experience that runs over two relaxed hours.

Part 1: Matcha Tasting & Making — hosted by brut tea (50 mins)

This part of the workshop is led by brut tea, a London-based independent tea brand specialising in modern Asian tea culture.

You'll be guided through a mini matcha tasting, where you'll try and compare different matchas while your facilitator shares the story, origin, and what makes matcha so distinctive from other teas. You'll then learn how to prepare matcha properly at home, from whisking technique to water ratios, before making your own oat matcha latte to enjoy.

Part 2: Matcha Bowl Making — hosted by Meiro Ceramics (60 mins)

Then comes the clay. Working with premium materials and guided by expert ceramics instructors at every step, your group will hand-build their own chawan - a traditional Japanese matcha bowl. You'll shape, smooth and personalise your piece with hand-painted designs, leaving with something truly one-of-a-kind.

The whole experience takes place in our serene studio in North London, where everything is set up and ready for your group from the moment you arrive.

Your Finished Piece

After the workshop, every guest’s matcha bowl is professionally glazed and kiln-fired twice to make it food-safe and ready for use at home. Bowls are typically ready within 4–5 weeks, with two easy options for getting them to you:
